My Art
My collages begin by randomly painting one or more papers with a good amount of abandon (typically with a brayer), without any specific objective or end product in mind. I then play around with the painted papers, cutting here and there, in order to discover what wants to be created. Over time, I have noticed that my best work tends to come from playing around with paint and papers instead of cautiously executing some preconceived idea. Go figure!

Colleen Overman is an artist & writer living in Portland, Oregon- though she is known to wander frequently and without giving adequate notice. When she's not painting papers next to her 18 year-old cat/assistant, Gracie, you can find her taking aerial yoga classes, spending time with family and friends, making green smoothies, and going on adventures whenever possible.
